iCloud: Deleting Without Losing
In today’s digital age, we capture countless memories through our smartphones and cameras. With the increasing number of photos and videos stored on our devices, managing them can become a daunting task. This is where Photos Library and iCloud come into play – two powerful tools that help us organize and store our precious moments.
Photos Library is an application developed by Apple for macOS users. It allows you to manage your entire photo collection in one place, making it easy to browse, edit, and share your images seamlessly across all your Apple devices. On the other hand, iCloud is a cloud storage service provided by Apple that enables you to securely store your files online and access them from any device with an internet connection.
One common concern when it comes to managing photos is deleting unwanted images without losing them forever.
Both Photos Library and iCloud offer solutions to this problem.
With Photos Library, deleting photos or videos does not mean they are permanently gone from your system immediately. Instead, they are moved to the “Recently Deleted” folder within the app for 30 days before being permanently deleted. This gives you ample time to recover any accidentally deleted items or change your mind about removing certain pictures from your library.
To restore deleted items in Photos Library:
Open the app.
Click on “Albums” at the top of the screen.
Scroll down until you find “Recently Deleted.”
Select the desired image(s) or video(s).
Click on “Recover” at the bottom right corner of the screen.
On the other hand, iCloud offers a similar feature called “iCloud Photo Library.” When enabled on all connected devices (iPhone, iPad, Mac), it automatically syncs all changes made within Photos app across these devices using cloud technology.
If you delete a photo or video from one device while using iCloud Photo Library:
The item will be removed from all devices connected to the same iCloud account.
